What performance do these specs target?

Read the target, not just the model number. The recommended RTX 3060 / RX 6700 XT tier is aimed at medium-quality 1080p60 with performance-mode upscaling. It is not an official promise of native 1080p, high settings or 1440p60.
Windows 10 support
Steam now lists Windows 10 or Windows 11 at minimum and Windows 11 for the recommended tier. That resolves the earlier conflict between Steam's placeholder and Xbox's Windows 10/11 platform listing.
Storage and memory planning
- Leave more than exactly 45 GB free. Installation, unpacking and launch patches can need temporary headroom. Keeping roughly 60 GB free is the safer practical target.
- An SSD is mandatory. The requirement appears in both tiers; a mechanical hard drive is outside the supported configuration.
- 16 GB RAM is enough on paper. Close heavy browser tabs and background launchers if your system has exactly 16 GB, especially while shader compilation or updates are running.
- Eight gigabytes of VRAM is the minimum. The recommended cards both carry 12 GB, so reduce texture quality first if an 8 GB card stutters.
Handheld and lower-spec options
The Xbox listing carries a Handheld optimized badge for supported Windows handhelds. That does not equal a Steam Deck Verified rating, so Linux/Proton compatibility still needs separate testing; see the Steam Deck and handheld guide.
If your PC falls below minimum, the supported alternatives are PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or cloud play through an eligible Game Pass plan where available.
