Beast of Reincarnation Crashing on Launch: Startup Crash & Black Screen Checklist

The game unlocked worldwide on August 4 at 00:00 UTC. This page tracks confirmed startup problems from the official bug-report thread and community, plus the standard checklist that resolves most UE5 launch-day crashes.

Community-sourced tracker · Last verified: August 4, 2026 (unlock hour)

Status at unlock hour: no single widespread, confirmed crash cluster had emerged in the official Steam bug-report thread as of our last check. That can change fast in the first hours — this page is updated as real, reproduced issues appear. Unconfirmed reports are labeled as such.

First-response checklist (works for most UE5 startup crashes)

These are standard, safe steps for Unreal Engine 5 launches — they are not game-specific bug fixes, and they resolve the most common causes: corrupted downloads, outdated drivers and overlay conflicts.

  1. Verify game files: Steam → right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Corrupted or incomplete preloads are the most common launch-day crash cause.
  2. Update GPU drivers: NVIDIA/AMD typically publish game-ready drivers around a launch this size. Install the newest driver before deeper troubleshooting.
  3. Check the official baseline: Windows 10/11 64-bit, DirectX 12, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1070 (8 GB) / RX 580 (8 GB) minimum and an SSD requirement — full details on the system requirements page. A below-minimum GPU or an HDD install is outside the supported configuration.
  4. Disable overlays: Discord, GeForce/NVIDIA App overlay, Steam overlay and RGB software are classic UE5 crash triggers. Disable them one at a time and retest.
  5. Don't interrupt first-time shader compilation: UE5 titles precompile shaders on first boot. If your first launch was force-closed midway, verify files and let it finish.
  6. Run as administrator and whitelist in antivirus: brand-new executables are regularly false-flagged in launch week.

Black screen with audio

  1. Press Alt+Enter to toggle fullscreen — the most common quick fix for black-screen-on-boot in UE5 games.
  2. Disconnect secondary monitors for the first launch, then reconnect.
  3. If the game boots to a black screen after a display-mode change, delete the display setting by switching to windowed mode via Alt+Enter, then set resolution in-game.

Where crashes get confirmed (and where to report yours)

When reporting, include your GPU, driver version, Windows version, and whether the crash happens before or after the shader-compilation screen — it makes reports actionable.
