Read this first: most public benchmarks so far were recorded on the pre-release build, before any day-one patch. Treat them as directional, not final. This page marks every figure with its source; single-machine reports are labeled Unverified.
The official performance targets
| Tier | Hardware | Official target |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | GTX 1070 (8 GB) / RX 580 (8 GB), i5-8400 / R5 3600 | Low settings, 1080p @ 40 fps with DLSS (RTX 20–50 series) or FSR 1 Performance |
| Recommended | RTX 3060 (12 GB) / RX 6700 XT (12 GB), i7-12700K / R7 5800X | Medium settings, 1080p @ 60 fps with DLSS or FSR 3 Performance |
Two practical readings of the official Steam listing: the upscalers named are DLSS, FSR 1 and FSR 3, and even the recommended tier assumes performance-mode upscaling for 1080p60 — so native-resolution 60 fps needs meaningfully stronger hardware than an RTX 3060. Community benchmarks by GPU (sourced)
| Hardware | Reported result | Source / status |
|---|---|---|
| RTX 4080 + i7-13700KF | ~80 fps at 4K, DLSS Quality, max settings with depth of field off; ~8 GB VRAM in use | Reddit r/BeastofReincarnation, u/MacEbes, Aug 3 — single report, Unverified |
| RTX 5080 / 5070 / 5060 / 4070 Super / 4060 (+ Ryzen 7 9850X3D) | Per-card benchmark runs on the pre-release build | YouTube — Samurai Bench, pre-release build |
| RX 9070 XT | Runs without trouble (no exact fps given) | Player report, official Discord, Aug 3 — Unverified |
| Ray tracing on (RTX) | Pre-release build ran well with RT enabled | Player report, official Discord, Aug 3 — Unverified |
Settings early players changed first
From early-access player reports (community-sourced, not our testing):
- Depth of field → off. The most commonly disabled setting in early reports for image clarity at no meaningful fps cost.
- Camera auto-follow → off (preference). The default camera snaps aggressively between enemies in combat; the auto-follow behavior can be disabled in settings. Reported by an early PC player (Reddit u/MacEbes, Unverified).
- No FOV slider was found in the pre-release settings menu per the same report (Unverified) — if that holds after the day-one patch, ultrawide and FOV-sensitive players should know before buying.
- Full input remapping exists for keyboard/mouse and controller (same source) — see the controller guide.
Universal UE5 advice that applies here
- Expect first-hour shader-compilation stutter. Unreal Engine 5 titles typically stutter while shaders compile during the opening area, then settle. Judge your final settings after the first hour.
- SSD is mandatory, not a suggestion — it appears in both official spec tiers. Asset streaming from an HDD is outside the supported configuration.
- 8 GB VRAM cards: lower texture quality first if you stutter — the recommended-tier cards both carry 12 GB. The one 4K report above measured ~8 GB VRAM in use, so 1080p/1440p should fit in 8 GB with headroom at sensible texture settings.
- 16 GB RAM systems: close browsers/launchers during play, especially during shader compilation.
Steam Deck and handhelds
The game carries Xbox's "Handheld optimized" badge for Windows handhelds, but there is no Steam Deck Verified rating yet and no reliable community Deck consensus at unlock hour. Status and sourced reports: Steam Deck & handheld page.
