Koo Commands & Bloom Arts in Beast of Reincarnation

Parry with Emma, bank FP for Koo, slow the fight through the command menu and spend the resource where it changes the encounter — on damage, control or breathing room.

The Koo command loop

  1. Parry with Emma. Successful parries generate FP, the resource that powers Koo's abilities.
  2. Open Koo's command menu. The menu can be opened during combat and slows the action while you choose.
  3. Select a Bloom Art and target. Spend FP on the effect the encounter needs now: pressure, control or relief.
  4. Return to Emma's real-time actions. Use the space or status Koo created to attack, reposition or prepare the next parry.
The key idea: dodging can save Emma, but parrying also funds Koo. If Koo feels unavailable too often, the answer is usually to improve the parry-command rhythm rather than treating his menu like a cooldown bar.

Best early Koo commands

SkillRoleUse it when
Taunt (Pounce)Control / aggroYou need pressure pulled away from Emma, a group needs reorganizing, or a boss opening is hard to create.
Higanbana: SeedsFlame damage / BurnA tough enemy is susceptible to Flame, or you want status pressure while Emma handles defense. It is a direct answer to Rangifer.
Swamp Summoner (Incantation mod)Area slowSeveral enemies are closing at once or you need time to place a ranged shot, heal or line up Emma's next action.

GamesRadar's launch guide recommends all three. IGN independently includes Taunt among its first Koo skill priorities, making it the strongest overlap between the two source sets.

Bloom Arts vs passive mods

Bloom Arts are Koo's active, FP-powered commands. Passive mods are equipped effects that shape what Koo contributes without replacing that active command loop. IGN's first-skill guide highlights:

Do not confuse a passive slot with an active Bloom Art slot when planning a build; the public guides discuss both systems together, but they solve different problems.

How to time Koo's commands

Affection expands Koo's passive capacity

Director Kota Furushima told Famitsu that Koo begins with one passive-skill slot and can expand to six as his affection with Emma grows. Feeding and petting Koo raise that affection. This means relationship actions at the hub have a direct build consequence: they widen the passive package you can carry alongside Bloom Arts.

The active command menu is still powered by FP from Emma's parries. More affection increases Koo's passive setup; it does not remove the need to earn the resource in combat.

Recommended early packages

Learning / survival

Taunt + Healing Energy. Use Taunt to create room and the passive to reduce attrition while you learn parry timing.

Early boss pressure

Higanbana: Seeds + Status Effect Amp. Use this when the target's Flame weakness is confirmed; against Rangifer, it aligns with both GamesRadar's boss and skill guidance.

Group control

Swamp Summoner + your preferred defensive passive. Slow the group, then use Emma's ranged attacks, a tracked shot or a safe melee route.

Controls and remapping

The mechanic is the same across PC, PlayStation and Xbox, but button labels can differ and the PC version supports input remapping according to early community reports. Check the current binding shown in your Controls menu rather than relying on a platform button copied from another version. If the command will not register, see controller not working.
