Before the fight: the Lightning loadout
Corvus is the clearest "prepare or suffer" boss so far, because half its answers are things you have to have equipped before the arena door closes:
- Thunderwave Sword. Fextralife names it directly — it puts the Lightning weakness on your melee swings, which matters for the short ground windows.
- Lightning Arrows and Lightning Bolts. Stock up before you go in. These are your primary damage source while Corvus is in the air, and running dry mid-fight is the most common way this one goes wrong.
- Bolt Shard on Koo for damage plus electric buildup, plus at least one binding skill.
- Sakura: Javelin — reported highly effective here. It deals Lightning damage into the weakness and reaches an airborne target from long range, which is exactly the problem this fight poses.
- Bind and Restrain effects. Building Restrain is how you force Corvus down; it's not optional if you want melee damage at all.
Nushi skills captured from earlier bosses feed directly into this — see the builds guide for how the lines slot together, and Taurus if you skipped the Chapter 4 Botan line.
Fighting a boss that won't land
The defining problem with Corvus is positioning, not damage. It spends most of the fight airborne, so the tactics that carried earlier Nushi hunts — parry, punish, repeat — only apply in short bursts.
- Use grapple points. Mobility is the answer to altitude: grapple onto platforms to get near it rather than waiting on the ground for it to descend.
- Hold high ground. This does double duty — it shortens your shots and it keeps you out of the acid that pools on the floor.
- Aim, don't spray. Take the extra half-second to line up each shot. Wasted arrows and bolts are the resource you can't get back mid-fight.
- Build Restrain with Koo until Corvus is dragged to the ground, then have Emma punish immediately — the window closes fast.
- Punish the forward lunge. When it telegraphs a lunging attack toward you, you get a brief window to land hits up close before disengaging to reposition.
Every attack and how to answer it
| Attack | Tell | Counter |
|---|---|---|
| Acid bomb drops | Flies across the arena trailing bombs | Unparryable. Keep moving; the acid lingers on the ground afterwards |
| Acid dive | Dives at the floor, creating a large pool on impact | Unparryable. Sprint or dodge clear of the landing area |
| 3-shot acid | Brief wind-up, then three projectiles | Unparryable. Dodge them; Fextralife describes the same volley as tail-launched pods |
| Three-talon combo | Three quick talon slashes in succession | Parry all three. Best stagger-building window in the fight |
| Lunging peck | Pulls its head back, then lunges | Parry to stagger, or dodge to either side and punish |
| Sky Drop (2nd battle only) | Climbs high, glows red, dives at speed | Unparryable. Leave the impact zone or perfect-dodge, then punish the recovery |
Never stand in the acid. Even a moment in a pool deals damage and applies a damage-over-time effect that keeps draining health after you step out — in a fight where you're already rationing healing for a two-phase second encounter, that's what turns a manageable fight into a loss.
The second encounter
Both of our sources report a second Corvus fight in the same Giant Tree Zone, and this one has two phases. The practical consequence is resource management:
- Phase one on Koo and melee. Fextralife's advice is to lean on Koo's skills and melee attacks early and deliberately hold your arrows and bolts back.
- Phase two on ranged Lightning. Spend the saved ammunition once the second phase starts, when Corvus is at its most evasive.
- Watch for the Sky Drop. It's new to this battle and unparryable — the red glow at altitude is the only warning you get.
Rewards: what you capture
Corvus is the source of the Nobudou acid skill line — fittingly, given how much acid it throws at you.
| Encounter | Rewards |
|---|---|
| First fight (level 38) | Nushi Skill: Acid Burst Nobudou · Bloom Art: Nobudou: Burst · Blade Art: Nobudou |
| Second fight (level 41) | Corvine Memories · Nobudou: Burst II — Fextralife additionally lists a Card Key (Line One), a Light Box and the Nobudou finisher |
Source note: Fextralife lists the Card Key (Line One) and Light Box among Corvus's drops while Game8's reward table covers skills only, and Fextralife spells the Blade Art "Nobudoi" against Game8's "Nobudou". Both accounts are preserved rather than merged. Single-source listings stay provisional until confirmed.
FAQ
What is Corvus's weakness in Beast of Reincarnation?
Lightning. Both launch guides reviewed here list Lightning as the elemental weakness, and Fextralife additionally rates Bind buildup as effective for forcing it out of the air.
Where do you fight Corvus?
Corvus is a Chapter 7 boss fought in the Giant Tree Zone of the Drowned Region. Both sources report two encounters there — Game8 lists them at boss levels 38 and 41.
How do you hit Corvus when it is flying?
Use grapple points to reach platforms near it and attack at range, aiming your shots to conserve ammunition. Build Restrain through Koo to force Corvus to the ground, which opens a melee punish window before it recovers.
Which Corvus attacks can be parried?
The three-talon combo and the lunging peck can be parried, and the talon combo is the best stagger-building window in the fight. The acid bomb drops, acid dive, three-shot acid volley and the second battle's Sky Drop cannot be parried.
What do you get for beating Corvus?
The first fight grants Nushi Skill: Acid Burst Nobudou, Bloom Art: Nobudou: Burst and Blade Art: Nobudou. The second grants Corvine Memories and Nobudou: Burst II, with Fextralife additionally listing a Card Key (Line One), a Light Box and the Nobudou finisher.
