What a shrine actually does
Shrines are the game's checkpoint-and-upgrade nodes. Two things happen when you find one:
- You get 3× Life Fruit on the spot. Across all 40 that is 120 Life Fruit, which is a meaningful chunk of your total healing economy over a playthrough.
- Your Stimpack carry limit goes up as your shrine count rises. This is the reason to pick them up early rather than mopping them up at the end — the benefit compounds over every fight you take afterwards, including the Nushi bosses.
One number we are not publishing: how many shrines it takes to earn each additional Stimpack. The threshold is real — the carry limit does increase with shrine count — but we have not found a source that states the interval, and an earlier internal note put it at "every 10" without a citation we could re-check. Rather than repeat an unsourced figure, we are leaving it open until a published guide confirms it.
The two trophies
| Trophy | How it unlocks | Tier |
|---|---|---|
| Place of Return | Discover your first shrine | Bronze |
| Soul Returned | Discover every shrine (all 40) | Bronze |
Both are on the road to the platinum. The full list is on the achievements page, which now names all 46 trophies.
All 40 shrines: visual route and saved checklist
This route uses Gamer Guru's complete 40-stop gameplay capture. Use the timestamp list to jump to the shrine you need, then tick it off; your progress stays in this browser and also appears in My Journey. The video is third-party footage, not a claim that this site captured the route.
How to use this responsibly: the numbered order comes from the embedded capture, while exact written directions are still being independently checked. For a map-first alternative, use the Polygon, IGN or Game8 location guides linked below. We do not copy their screenshots or present their route as our own playtest.
Can you miss a shrine?
No. Shrines sit in the wider collectible set — 323 items in total — and that whole set is reported as having zero missable, hidden or glitched entries. You can return for anything you walked past. The only hard requirement for 100% is that the platinum needs two playthroughs, because a handful of trophies are locked behind New Game+ rather than behind anything you could lose.
So the practical advice is the opposite of most collectathons: don't stress about clearing regions exhaustively on your first run. Pick up what's on your path for the early Stimpack benefit, and finish the set whenever you like. The New Game+ guide covers what carries over.

FAQ
How many shrines are in Beast of Reincarnation?
40. Finding all of them unlocks the Soul Returned trophy.
What do shrines give you?
3× Life Fruit each, and collecting more of them raises your Stimpack carry limit.
Can you miss any shrines?
No. The collectible set has no missable, hidden or glitched entries, so you can always go back.
Do you need New Game+ to find every shrine?
No — shrines themselves are all reachable in one playthrough. New Game+ is required for the platinum overall, but for other trophies, not for shrines.

We do not own the game and do not run first-hand playtests. The embedded footage remains the creator's work and is linked as the visual evidence. Totals and mechanics are attributed; anything we could not verify — such as the exact shrine-count threshold for each extra Stimpack — stays marked as unverified.
