How to unlock respec: meet Mikoto

Respec isn't available at the start of the game. Both accounts of unlocking it place it in the Ancient Civilization Zone — the game's second area, roughly four hours in — during the objective to find a Lightning Stone and power the gate. This is the same zone covered in our Lacerta boss guide. Sources describe the exact trigger slightly differently: one says it follows your first encounter with Lacerta, the other says you come across a character named Mikoto fighting a golem while searching for the Lightning Stone. Either way, the outcome is the same — you meet Mikoto, who grants the power to reset your build, and a nearby campfire lets you return to the Cleanse Walker easily afterward.

How to respec, step by step

  1. Return to the Cleanse Walker (your mobile base) after meeting Mikoto.
  2. Interact with the Communicator aboard the Cleanse Walker.
  3. Select Mikoto from the list of contacts.
  4. Choose Reset Attributes.
  5. Pick whether you're resetting Emma's or Koo's attributes — the menu shows exactly how many points you'll get back and how much Amber it will cost before you confirm.

What actually gets refunded

Respeccing refunds Attribute Points. Because several Skills are gated behind Attribute thresholds, resetting Attributes also resets the Skills built on top of them — so Skill Points come back too. The two pools aren't separable: you can't reset only your Skills and keep your Attributes, or vice versa. It's all-or-nothing per respec.
